Spelunky 2 temple4/9/2023 ![]() ![]() If you released Van Horseling in Volcana, he will appear in through a small door in Temple of Anubis (4b-1). Besides dying and reviving with the ankh, this is the only way I know of to cure a curse. Successfully completing this challenge in the Temple of Anubis awards you an elixir that cures poison and curses. This time your goal is to light all the torches in the room in a short time, a difficult task if you lack the jetpack. Somewhere in 4a and 4b the mysterious Tun appears for another challenge, this time costing $25,000. Defeat Osiris and obtain the Tablet of Destiny. There is indeed a lot of gold in this secret area, but the biggest attraction is the altar on which one with the Ankh can sacrifice themself, gaining entry to Duat.Īccessible through golden door in Lost City of Gold if you sacrificed yourself on the altar. If combined with the Hedjet (Black Market), the Scepter will allow entry into the Lost City of Gold on 4b-2.įind golden door in 4-2 and use Anubis’s Scepter from 4b-1 with Hedjet to enter. If you take him down, he drops the Scepter. Sleeping when you arrive, Anubis awakens when you are close to shoot devastating rings your direction. That's why I love him.The alternate world 4, similar to Spelunky HD’s final world, is arguably more difficult than world 5 and 6, as the enemies appear clumped, shoot fast-moving projectiles. All in all, he seems pretty happy about it.įor me, defeating the Tunnel Jerk was more satisfying than completing the game. You curse him over and over, until the glorious day when you finally bring him his idiotic trinket. Every time you fail, you curse that Tunnel Jerk's stupid request. Maybe a boulder crushes it, or you die trying to retrieve it after leaving it in a "safe place" in order to rescue a damsel. You lose the key in the rivers of the jungle, and you lose it in the void of the ice caves. ![]() To take it all the way from the mines, through the jungle, and to the end of the ice caves? It's the definition of pointless.īut it's also a goal, and so you try it. Worse, it stops you picking up genuinely useful items like the shotgun, damsel or idol. Away from the chest, the key does nothing. The Udjat Eye that lives on one the last few levels on the mines. The key that unlocks the chest to the Udjat Eye. Tunnel Jerk's final request-the one that unlocks a shortcut to the Temple, and an end to his dominion over you-is a key. If you've not experienced it, consider this a spoiler of sorts. The reveal of what else Tunnel Jerk has got is almost beautiful in its audacity. A Fire Frog jumps in the jungle, and now a shopkeeper will murder you in 3-2. See, Tunnel Jerk, I was prepared to give up a shotgun. A shotgun? You want me to take a shotgun to the ice caves and then just give it up?! Are you a crazy person? Well fine, I'll do it. $10,000?! That's a lot of money when you're starting out, and a lot to blow on a shortcut.įrom there, it escalates. Reaching a new world is an obvious mini-triumph, but so are Tunnel Jerk's most absurd challenges. I would never have brought down Olmec if it wasn't for the smaller successes along the way if it wasn't for the feeling of progress, no matter how small. I'd reached the damn City of Gold before I ever completed it. I'd played it hundreds of times before I ever completed it. Well, I guess I could always give Tunnel Jerk the thing that he wants.Ĭompleting Spelunky is an achievement to be proud of, but it's also a long-term battle. New character? Only if I stumble across a coffin. Jetpack? Nope, I'm $5,000 short and the ghost is here. In addition to its primary success state, there are multiple potential goals along the way. ![]()
